Audit Logs for Administrators

Audit Logs for Administrators

Overview

The Audit Logs feature in Assuredly gives platform administrators a detailed, searchable record of activity across their account. Use it to monitor user behaviour, investigate incidents, support compliance requirements, and maintain visibility over key actions taken within the platform.

Who can access Audit Logs?

Audit Logs are accessible to administrators only. If you do not see the Company menu or the Audit Logs option, contact your platform administrator to review your permissions.

Accessing Audit Logs

To open the Audit Logs feature, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Assuredly with your administrator account.
  2. In the main navigation, select Company.
  3. From the Company menu, select Audit Logs.
  4. The Audit Logs screen will load, ready for you to filter and search.

Filtering Audit Logs

The Audit Logs screen provides several filters to help you locate specific events quickly. You can apply one or more filters in combination.

Record Type

Use the Record Type filter to narrow results to a specific category of activity. The available event types are:

  • Organisational Changes - Changes to your organisation's structure, settings, or configuration.
  • User Sessions - User login activity across the platform.
  • Document Events - Actions taken on documents, including downloads.
  • Report Viewer Events - Interactions with reports by report viewers.
  • Assessment Guest Events - Activity related to guest access for assessments

Actions

Once an Event Type is selected, you can further filter by the specific action that was performed. The actions available depend on the event type chosen:

  • Create — a new item was added to the platform.
  • Update — an existing item was modified.
  • Delete — an item was removed.
  • Download — a file was downloaded

Time Period

You can filter logs by a specific time period to focus on a date range relevant to your investigation or review

Tip

If no time period is set, the log will return all available records for the selected event type and action. For large accounts, applying a date range will make results easier to navigate.

Viewing Log Details

Once the filtered results are displayed, you can inspect the full details of any individual log entry.

Locate the log entry you want to review in the results list.

Select the view details icon on the right-hand side of the log entry row.

A detail panel will open displaying the full information for that event.

Information Included in a Log Entry

Each log entry detail panel provides the following information:

  • Event type and action performed
  • Date and time the event occurred
  • User who performed the action
  • IP address of the device used
  • Browser type and version
  • Additional technical details relevant to the event.

Note

IP address and browser information can be particularly useful when investigating unauthorised access or verifying that activity originated from an expected location or device.

Tips and Best Practices

Routine Monitoring

Review audit logs on a regular basis to stay informed about activity in your account. Scheduling periodic reviews of user session and organisational change logs can help you identify unusual behaviour early.

Incident Investigation

If you need to investigate a specific incident, use the time period filter alongside a relevant event type to narrow results to the timeframe in question. The IP address and browser details in each log entry can help confirm whether activity came from an expected source.

Compliance and Reporting

Audit logs provide a reliable record of account activity that can support internal compliance reviews or external audits. Use the Download action filter under Document Events or Report Viewer Events to trace when sensitive files or reports were accessed.

Troubleshooting

No results are showing

Check that your selected event type, action, and time period combination is correct. Try broadening the filters — for example, removing the time period filter — to confirm whether logs exist for that event type.

The Audit Logs option is not visible

Audit Logs are only available to administrators. If you cannot see the Company menu or the Audit Logs option within it, your account may not have the required permissions. Contact your platform administrator.

A log entry is missing or missing expected detail

Some older log entries may contain limited technical detail depending on when the event was recorded. If you need further information about a specific event, contact Assuredly support.
